This door was made for a friend for her new baby!
She wanted something with plenty of purple. The colors I was using for purple weren't exciting enough, so I decided to add some zest with a lovely blue and white snail! He is so adorable, and he doesn't even leave a slime trail. Instead of eating the mushrooms, he cares for them, keeping them bright and looking fresh every day.
Fairy Doors are meant to add a little whimsy to your home or garden and invite the Fae folk to spend some time there. If they visit you the belief is that you will be blessed with luck and happiness.
It is hand-sculpted of Fimo brand clay. The hinges, doorknob and nails are made to look like hammered iron. This door has a piece of wire on the back you can hang it from, but it can also be propped up on a shelf, mantle, counter top or cupboard.
If you don't have pets or very young children you can also put it somewhere closer to the ground. Fairies don't mind a shoe-level view, as long as they don't get stepped on!
