Invite fairies and other little folk into your home with a whimsical Fairy Door!
A simple door for a fairy who doesn't need much, this fairy door has a delicate "iron" heart attached to the front to make its tenant feel welcome. The hinges, door handle and nails are detailed to look like hammered iron. A little moss grows on the stones around the door.
Fairy Doors are meant to add a little whimsy to your home or garden and invite the Fae folk to spend some time there. If they visit you the belief is that you will be blessed with luck and happiness.

This door is approximately 4 inches tall by 4 inches wide. It is hand-sculpted of Fimo brand clay, and the only tool I used is a little needle to make the wood grain details. This door has a piece of wire on the back you can hang it from, but it can also be hung with some sticky tack, or you can prop it up on a bookshelf, fireplace, counter top or cupboard. Doors can also be used outside as garden decor (you will find there are many more fairies outside!) and you can hang them in trees or use them to dress up an old stump. They do not stain with water and only fade a very little, so they can be kept out all year in balmy climates. However, if it gets cold in the winter they should be brought in so they do not become brittle.
If you don't have pets or very young children you can also put it somewhere closer to the ground. Fairies don't mind a shoe-level view, as long as they don't get stepped on!
Fairies sometimes venture into human dwellings to find a warm place to stay with interesting things to explore. They are as fascinated by us as we are by them. Keeping a fairy door in your home is welcoming to adventuring fairies, making it more likely that one will show up. It is believed that if your house is home to a fairy they will bring you luck. It is not always good luck, but it is always interesting! Leaving little notes or pieces of candy encourages fairies to visit and write back.
Although fairies are the most common house visitors, all sorts of little mystical creatures may travel through a fairy door. Expected the unexpected at all times!
